Autogas: Powering Schools into the Future

Propane is commonly used to heat homes and dry crops, but another use of the alternative fuel is growing in popularity: powering fleets, in particular school buses. Propane powered school buses have a long history, however with recent resources dedicated to expanding this option, school transportation departments are looking closely at making a transition from diesel to propane for their bus fleets. Propane Autogas, or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is used as a fuel in internal combustion engines in vehicles as well as in stationary applications such as generators. It is a mixture of propane and butane. Autogas is widely used as a "green" fuel, as its use reduces CO ₂ exhaust emissions.
 
When considering propane buses keep the following in mind:

• It is nearly half the price of diesel fuel.
• Contract your fuel needs easily.
• Quickly start and heat in the winter months.
• Cleaner engines.
• Greener fuel with less emissions.
• Easy maintenance.
• Better acceleration
• Meets all 2024 EPA Requirements
• No required permits for propane equipment
• A higher level of driver and rider comfort.
